Being good and decent are worth it

What quote am I vibing? "We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it." Pope Francis

Pounds of Trash Removed from the Wild since Last Post: 41

Pounds of Trash Removed from the Wild in 2021: 159

All-Time Pounds of Trash Removed from the Wild: 1753

One month of 2021 is complete, and I already see I have aimed low for the year. Instead of 1250 pounds for 2021, I will aim for 1500.

I have felt a very positive energy around my trash cleanups this year, and I can sometimes see a change - the beach occasionally seems less littered with trash, or I see someone else cleaning up. From this time last year to this time this year, I have extended my range in my neighborhood - when I first started cleaning the neighborhood, I never had the bucket space to venture off Kanner. Now I walk down Central, basically to US1 (where my bucket inevitably gets filled) - it feels good to walk that distance, and good to know that things are cleaner than they were in the past.

I hope that my reach continues to extend, so that I have exhausted my desire to walk before I have exhausted the space in my bucket.

I am looking forward to another month of change in February - a short month! I will start it with a marathon week of cleanings.

January 23. Sandsprit Park. 2 pounds.

January 25. Tiger Shores Beach. 13 pounds.

January 27. Kanner Highway. 5 pounds.

January 30. Stuart Causeway - West Island. 21 pounds.
