More ancient than the mountains

Happy World Oceans Day!

The world continues to be in turmoil, and the sea continues its ebb and flow.

I did a cleanup this evening, and I think either the rain moved the sand over all the trash, or someone came through before me to celebrate the day. I hope it is this latter! There is always trash in the parking lot - and there is always peace in being beside the ocean. No trip is wasted.

I was speaking to a fisherman who told me that our area, specifically around the St Lucie Estuary, has more species in sea, land, and air than any other area in North America. I can believe him, given our sea, our brackish St Lucie, and our scrubs and hammocks. What an important thing to protect.

Here is what we have cleaned up over the last couple weeks.
